I believe that all people deserve to receive quality, compassionate and dignified services and care. 

Working with people with disabilities:

Over 45 years combined services & experience working with individuals with disabilities. 
I grew up with a sister and an uncle who were blind and had other disabilities. From the time I was a child I assisted them as a guide around home, town and events.
​I was a guide, reader and assistant throughout college for my sister as well in the early 1980's. 
Throughout much of the 1980"s, I assisted with interpreting for ASL (American Sign Language). 
I worked as a physical Therapy Assistant for 14 months in Boise Idaho working with adults who had traumatic brain injuries or who were developmentally delayed. 1990 - 1991
I have raised a child who has Autism and other amazing gifts.And I am still her part time or sometimes advocate or care provider. 
Over the years between 1993 to the present time, I've worked with Autistic, DD clients and family as well as the elderly.

Skills:

  • Somewhat fluent in Spanish.
  • Some basic ASL (I haven't signed much in the past 24 years so much of my language skills may be outdated or forgotten). 
  • Advocacy: with housing, work, family, community and resources. 
  • Resource assistant: Great at helping others search for current resources to best meet their needs. 
  • Paperwork (basic to nearly administrative level): Very good at helping people complete paperwork for services, resources and work. 
  • Support: Attending medical appointments, assistance with appointments for resources & services. Attending treatment groups, work events, fitness activities and social events.
  • Plan development: creating plans and action steps for seeking work, working, attending college or training, fitness & nutrition, health and safety plans and improving coping skills & social skills.  

Experience:

For decades I have worked 2 to 3 jobs, Some jobs have or had multiple duties: Jobs & duties have often overlapped. 
  • Over 20 years as a teacher & trainer & Administrative duties.Including, Diversity Specialist, Domestic Violence Specialist, Victims Advocate and Safety trainer. 
  •  9 years as a case manager, crisis intervention counselor, resource specialist. Including labor/management liaison and mediator.
  • 10 years: success coach, life coach, motivational speaker.
  • 8 years: Health and trainer. 
  • 8 Years property Management: Tax Credit (4), conventional (2.75) and HUD (..25), Shelter Manager: Domestic Violence (1)
  • ​9 months: PSW and HCW for Alliance Services and for OHCC (state of Oregon,as a self contractor).
