Because...
We never know when our last day will be. We write our to do lists, plan to meet friends, or spend time with loved ones or finish a project at work, but we don't usually plan to die or to have our lives greatly altered. Of course, we can invest in good life insurance, medical and dental plans and have a will, and while those things are important they don't cover everything and they cannot prevent death, illness or injuries. On any given day you can have your life completely altered by a cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, car crash or any other number of things. In LIfe and Success Coaching one of the things we focus on often is "what is your why?", Not so much what you want to have or do but what value would it bring to you (why is something of importance to your life). So I ask you, in the spirit of American Heart Associations 2016 campaign.... What is your why? "LIFE IS WHY"? But lets go deeper with that. When I had my car crash in 2007 and nearly died several times, each time I was conscious enough to think, I knew that my children and grandchildren were the biggest reasons I wanted to stick around, heal and function again. My pets were next on my list and the causes I have worked for all of my life were still something I wanted to contribute to. As a Life Coach and Success Coach and other ares of my life where I strived to make a difference were something I wanted to return to once I knew my family was ok. It goes much deeper and far more detailed than that but that is the general overview of why I wanted life... and as important, I wanted enough quality of life so that I could show up and participate in the lives of my loved ones in a way that felt of value to me... more than laying there on life support, I wanted to participate. I wanted to see, hear and experience my kids smile, live, laugh, love, argue, fall, get back up, struggle, succeed, have their hearts broken, heal and grow and ALL of what life offers. How about you? If you were to leave this body today, what would you miss? What would you wish you had more time for or who would you wish you had more time with? Each person that needs CPR or "FAST" actions (Stroke signs and actions) has a story, they have a why whether they know it or not. Each time you show up to a scene at home, play, work or anywhere that you are needed to provided high quality CPR or First Aid, YOU give that person a fighting chance to continue to live their why. YOU get to make a difference! THANK YOU FOR LEARNING HIGH QUALITY CPR, FIRST AID AND OR BLS. Please feel free to add your "Life is Why" story. And or go to heart..org and find how you can share your story with American Heart Association.
